Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Around this time last year, I shared a lovely evening with unhoused community members camping in my neighborhood. We bonded over hot meals, jazz music, and gardening. I would love to share my city with these people, and I wish my city council would support more homes for their sake.
Our records show that you read at least 20 of our emails just this year – I am so glad to see you stay updated on housing! But there are many more neighbors who have yet to connect the dots between skyrocketing rents, exploding homelessness, and our restrictive zoning.
Will you consider contributing to help educate more Angelenos, so more neighbors will say YES to sharing our cities?
Our pro-housing movement brings real results. Just this year we’ve already accomplished so much – in LA City alone, our advocacy has resulted in the city committing to rezoning for 250,000 more homes, of which 45% would be created in higher-resource neighborhoods. If we stay focused on this course, LA will finally become a truly inclusive, affordable, and prosperous region.
Progress is inevitable. With many city council seats across LA County up for elections in 2022, we have the opportunity to elect truly pro-housing leaders to shake up the status quo. But this requires us to build a mass movement of informed and educated voters who understand the root cause of this housing shortage.
Will you contribute to help seize this opportunity? Unhoused neighbors can’t wait any longer, house-burdened families can’t wait longer!
